About the event

Kyle Harper will be our speaker at this year’s Center for Christian Studies – First Things Lecture in Austin.  Harper is the G.T. and Libby Blankenship Chair in the History of Liberty, Professor of Classics and Letters, Senior Advisor to the President, and Provost Emeritus at his alma mater, the University of Oklahoma.  He is the author of four books: Slavery in the Late Roman World; From Shame to Sin: The Christian Transformation of Sexual Morality; The Fate of Rome: Climate, Disease, and the End of an Empire; and Plagues upon the Earth: Disease and the Course of Human History.

The lecture will be given at University Avenue Church of Christ in Austin, Texas, at 7:00 PM on Monday, September 11, 2023, with refreshments to follow.
