The Center for Christian Studies is excited to announce our fourth annual winter class, a seven-week intensive course examining the question, "WHAT IS A HUMAN BEING?" from a Christian perspective. It will meet on Mondays beginning Jan. 26 through Mar. 9, 2026, 7:00 – 8:30 PM (CST), in person at Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ in Austin, and on zoom.
Below is the course description and calendar. Be sure to RSVP today!
In an age of increasing dependence and formation by technology, it is perhaps more vital than ever that Christians grapple with the question, “What is a human being?” What does it mean to be human? What does the Bible teach about human nature, flourishing, and purpose? What are the threats to this understanding in our present time, and how should Christians assess these threats and offer a truly Christian response?
The Center for Christian Studies will be offering a live seven-week class, “Being Human: Human Being in the Image of God,” led by Keith Stanglin, director of CCS, and other guest lecturers, Carl Trueman, Tessa Davidson, Nathan Guy, and Todd Hall. The class will examine many of the questions noted above from biblical, theological, philosophical, and sociological perspectives. The goal of the class is to provide participants with resources, greater confidence, and better understanding of what God made us to be and who we are in God’s presence.
Discounted rates available for Journal of Christian Studies and First Things subscriber households. Student discount also available. Click on the "View more price options" link below for discounted rates. Before registering for the class, subscribe to JCS here for your discount, and First Things here.
